Asmarino.com
is not only an information center, but also a meeting point. We
believe that many minds, different perspectives, and civil debate
are necessary to bring the objectives of this institution to fruition.
Asmarino.com continually assesses its policies and practices,
and introduces changes that its management team considers reasonable
and necessary. Its aim is to design an information center that
provides an open forum for the presentation and refinement of
ideas relevant to Eritrean communities. Apart from directly benefiting
Eritrean communities, by engaging diverse perspectives and encouraging
open discussions, it is hoped a consensus will ultimately emerge
that will enhance Asmarino's philosophy. Hence, in order to facilitate
this process, we have established the Asmarino.com Editorial Board.
The main quality of its editorial board is good judgment. And
its main function is to broaden and deepen our readers' understanding
of Eritrean communities through the news articles, columns, or
editorials it publishes. Based on those responsibilities, effective
today, Asmarino.com's newly set up Editorial Board will spend
more time in processing contributions from its readers by assessing
them on the following criteria:
- Authenticity:
The author needs to send his/her personal information which includes:
real name, address and telephone number.
- Originality:
an article that has appeared in other websites will not be processed
for posting, unless deemed very important to readers.
-
Clarity: an article whose contents lack the required
level of clarity, accuracy and syntax will be returned to the
author for further editing.
-
Decency:
an article that lacks basic decency and respect for its readers
will not be published.
-
Value to Readers: Asmarino's editorial board has the
prerogative to form an opinion on an article as to the value
of its contents. Articles considered of inconsequential value
will not be posted.
Asmarino.com
has come to understand that a great deal of information it receives
from its contributors lack certain requirements for publishing.
Since many of the articles that Asmarino.com receives appear in
other Eritrean websites, not only will their message be less effective
but also they will simply increase its workload considerably.
Therefore, Asmarino regrets to inform its contributors, due to
the new policy in place, it will not publish any articles, unless
they meet the above criteria.
